SKILL LEVEL
Intermediate — you should be comfortable sewing a straight seam and using a zipper. If you are new to zippers, don't worry — the video tutorial walks you through every single step at a pace you can follow. Many beginners have made this bag successfully with the video guide alongside them.
MATERIALS YOU WILL NEED
• Main fabric — ½ metre (50cm), 60 inches wide
• Lining fabric — ¾ metre (75cm)
• Pocket fabric — ¼ metre (25cm)
• Bias binding — 4 metres (includes pockets)
• 1 x open-end zipper, 20 inch
• 2 x pocket zippers, 8 or 6 inch

I designed the Amara because I wanted a bag that looked like it came from a boutique — not a craft fair. The contrast panels and window zipper give it that edge. I've been making bags for over a decade and this one remains one of my favourites to teach. I hope you love making it as much as I loved designing it.

Prep your surface
Choose a clean cushion cover, canvas or fabric panel and tape the stencil firmly in place.

Use a fabric paint pen or stencil brush in thin, even layers. Peel back slowly to reveal a crisp print.
